The Different Approaches to IP by Switcher Manufacturers

James Careless surveys the landscape of evolving IP solutions for video production in this recent TV Technology article. He finds switcher vendors are of more than one mind as to the likely way forward with respect to standards, but all share a healthy caution about proceeding too fast and too far toward IP-centric products. A notable exception to this slow addition of IP workflow is the NewTek family of TriCaster products, which have included IP capability for more than ten years. NewTek CTO and President Dr. Andrew Cross is called on for his experienced perspective at several points in the article.
